by Charles McAteer This weekend Flame PR was at Lake Como in Italy for The European House-Ambrosetti’s annual Finance Workshop, “The Outlook for the Economy and Finance”. The European House-Ambrosetti is Italy’s number one Think Tank and a leading Management Consultancy. Twice a year economists, heads of state, minsters, Nobel Prize winners and businessmen gather at the 16th century Villa D’este, on the banks of Lake Como, to discuss and debate current global economic issues. The audience consists of top management and financial officials from the world’s leading corporations. The Ambrosetti Forum (in September) is Geopolitics and Innovation orientated while the Finance Workshop (in April) concentrates on Investment, Finance and Banks. In-between coordinating interviews for journalists on the ground my colleague and I had the chance to listen to the inspiring speeches, taking notes for the event’s press releases. Inescapably, there was talk of investing in a Post-Brexit and “Trump(ed)” world, which further led to questions from the audience addressing the issue of inequality, the dissatisfaction of the rural working classes that drove these movements and the resulting loss of skilled labour. The sessions covered topics such as the ‘Most Promising Emerging Markets’, ‘The Future of the Euro’ and ‘Capital Markets and European Banking Unions’. We look forward to returning to Lake Como in September for The European House-Ambrosetti Forum 2017.
