by Maya HarrunaOne of the great things about Flame PR is that we are a truly diverse business. Founded by Kully Dhadda, Flame PR is a minority and female owned business. We are a proud member of MSDUK, UK’s leading non-profit membership organisation that looks to drive inclusivity. At Flame PR you will see Christians, Sikhs, Muslims and atheists rubbing shoulders around the lunch table – our team is always looking to learn from each other. However, for the last 30 days, my colleague Romana and I have not joined the rest of the team for the daily lunch time catch-up as we have both been observing Ramadan. The ninth month of the Islamic calendar sees Muslims from around the world abstain from eating or drinking from dusk till dawn. It is a time for Muslims to exercise self-discipline and restraint both spiritually and physically, as well as empathising with the plight of the poor. The end of the fasting month is marked with a big feast, the exchanging of gifts and celebrations, known as "Eid-ul-Fitr". Romana and I will be making some delicious treats to share with the team, and we have planned a meal out for the whole team – the perfect way to catch up on all of the lunch time chatter that we have missed out on.
